Hey there chevyman if you talk real sweet to your freind manny i know were there is a freshly built 304 4bbl engine hooked to a four speed in a jeep truck the truck got vandalized after my buddy had a flat on some no name road, but the motor is great, Built by tim gaines (The chevy MAN in west ga) it's right ported polished heads balanced and blueprinted cast iron four barrel int with holley 600 complete evrything with powersteering and all. I know my buddy is thinking about getting rid of the truck so you want me to inquire. Motor has prob 50k on it:cheers:

what kind of axles do you think are under it?
Manny
12-09-2006, 04:55 PM
The rear is a amc 20 you need to put one piece axles in it since they are a major weak link. The front is gonna be a dana 35 or a 44 i don't remember which.
Manny

Manny
12-09-2006, 07:54 PM
hmmm Jeep made a D35 front?
the D35 to my knowledge was a rear axle.. the front was either D30 or D44
Best i know they did:)

12-09-2006, 08:04 PM
Jeeps also used a D44 rear axle...Here is a guide to identify axles but you have to click the image twice for it to get to a readable size.

i agree with 87BIIXLT4X4
as far as i know jeep only has a dana 35 rear axle. it's either a dana 30 or 44 in the front, unless someone swapped something else in.

Some Cherokees and alot of CJ's had either Model 20 or D44 rears and fronts all the way from almost the beginning to present if D35 front excluding some D44 fronts and the New Jeeps with a D44 that really isn't (it's still as week as a D35)

I remember I had mice living in my mustang once.
They torn away at some insulation to make a nest & use the top of my air filter as their toilet.

yeah and i live out in the country so mice are prolly way worst. I hope it doesnt happen because that will be bad. and prolly make me madder than hell. but i do hope one day to drop a V8 in it. I found a cobra jet 428 for like 3000 on ebay. couldnt justify buying though

front is a d30 and can hold up good to 33. post above is right about 1 pc rear axles. look for some junk yard spares for the front and have fun. The noise your hearing in column is a simple fix. There is a bearing in the front of the column, open the hood look inside and look for a clip on the very front of column. It has grooves and a wire clip, that holds the plastic type bushing/ bearing in place. Go thru crown or 4wd hardware pick one up. Dont go overkill just play and cross your fingers unless you are going extreme stuff you will be fine. guaranteed you will be so much happier down the road and your wallet will be too.:)
