<-----not much of a jeep guy

buddy has 89 cherokee 4.0L Auto with a rear slip shaft t-case

went to LKQ this morning and their was a wagoneer (87?) 2.8L (?) Auto and it had a two peice driveshaft, fixed yoke t-case, the shift lever had H-N-L and their was a toggle for 2wd-4wd, he wants to know if that t-case is better then what he has in his 89, he wants to run the two-peice fixed driveshaft instead of the slip yoke

2.8L GM V6, the tcase in the waggy is a rear fixed yoke,

his current t-case is the slip shaft

auto hubs?? in an XJ what are you refering to, the axle shafts bolt directly to the wheel bearing, no manual/auto hubs, the wheel bearings are known to go bad with wide tires, and i know you can buy a manual hubs conversion to replace the hub style bearing

okay his XJ has a 231 and from what i can tell the waggy tcase is a 207? (the waggy is the same size as an XJ, not a full size) but from what i have read the 207 came rear slip yoke, so could someone have converted it to a fixed, and if so, can the 231 be converted using the same kit from the 207?

many compact jeepers switch to the fixed with the slip yoke elimantor kit which runs anywhere from 200-400, it helps with driveline angles, flex, and vibration

There is a conversion for the stock tcase to a fixed yoke for i think $300.
He will have to pull the case and replace the out put shaft for fixed shaft.
Look into rough country I think thay have the kit.

that t case sounds like its the full time 4 wheel drive one(all wheel drive). But I'm not sure, is the jeep a fullsized one?
