View Full Version : An Alarming Trend?

A friend of mine wrote this, I thought it should be told

Last weekend, for the second time this year, I witnessed a camp trailer dumping its tanks in the desert in an OHV area. Perhaps I should say soiling the desert with the contents of its Black Water tank. In both cases this was done right on the side of an access road, though in the first case I could only smell what was going on & not which of the caravan of trailers was doing the foul deed. My first thought was confrontation, but I did not trust myself to maintain my self control in such a situation. Had I been able to do so in time, I would have summoned a BLM Ranger.

Events like this make me wish for a means to gather up what they dumped and follow them home. I’d leave it on their front lawn. This is just not acceptable no matter where you are. I am outraged that someone would even consider doing this.

In the case of the second event I unfortunately had with me a person who tends to enjoy the “other sides” type of events. This did not go over well with her either and left what I am sure will be a hard to erase imprint. All of our work to show the public how most of us really care for the deserts and mountains that we ride in was quickly destroyed by this one adam-henry.

Just how stupid are some people? The mind fairly boggles at the idiocy of what this person was doing, both in terms of caring for our places to ride & explore and for the bad PR that will come from someone else happening upon such an event. To say nothing of the incredible health hazzard this creates.

I propose that a bounty be set on the people who commit this act of selfish soiling of the Deserts.

I wish you could set a bounty on these ass hats Hell one of the last times I was at glamis I had to check someone in what they were doing because he said "This is the best thing about glamis," he then dropped his soda can and started buring it "you just have to bury your trash" At that time I ripped it out of the ground and tossed it into the back of my truck and responded to what he said by sayting, "Do you like being out here?" at which time he just nodded his head "Then don't just leave your **** around for the greenies to complain about" Since then I have not hear or seen any more displays of reckless abandon with trash.

As for the bounty issue Maybe a program could be set up with CHP where you report the guy dumping Hazardus waste as it is classified give them his Lic plate# and they pull him over if seen. If the officer is able to acertain that the tank is empty and the driver cannot show a dumping recipt then they get a 150.00 fine.

ALWAY BRING YOUR CAMERA!!

Not just for great wheeling pics but for A-Holes Like that! :nunu:

I would of totally blocked him from moving & took Pics & then tossed my cam inside my cab & locked it & told him what I thought of his actions! :joe2[1]:

I myself drive a BIG RIG that has crew Bathrooms on it & so I'm all sooo familar with whats in Black tanks!
& thats is FAWKED UP!! :soapbox:

I would of hoped to of not got in a fight over it, But do feel I would of risked it!

& if not I would just made sure to get the Pics to prove it & sent them to the Cop/Rangers etc!

I would hope that If I confronted them they would'nt have the balls to try it again!

I have a motorhome and the thought of dumping the black water in the desert just about makes me want to puke.

I'd be careful about confrontation, I have confronted people dumping trash before. I agree with the pictures, I have taken them of people dumping and after raising a lot of noise about it, I got no where with the local police, so I went to the newspaper...that worked, a story was written and the local police learned from that - now they do confront people.

I am always armed in my motorhome, you have to now days with all the weird people in the desert who think they can do what they want.

of cours- these are the same type of people that dump trash illegally on private property, sides of freeways, etc. No thought to the consequences of their actions because of the lack of edjumakation dey gotz. Stupid law ought to apply here....do something stupid- get smacked and pay a fine...... and then have them fix stupid action in hopes they dont do it again.

I think they idea that the dumpers have to LICK up what they dumped would be a good way to make people think twice about dumping black water in the desert.

I'm sure if you got local law enforcment to persue it it would be a haz-mat spill/Illegal dumping charge...:m2c:

I say whatever they are dumping from gets hit by a tank or something. With their stuff in it. If you can't use it properly then you don't get to use it.

Kinda like that camaro that got crushed by CHP...

Grey water is regular sink water.
Black water is the tanks that collects what goes in your toilet.
