Me & Roc went into a welder together...( Hobart made by Miller)
Since were both kinda broke it seemed easier to share the expense..

Then of course I had to buy an auto dark helmet & Gas Tank etc....
But its soooooo worth it!
We both see tube buggies in our future! :ewg:
So I've been having fun praticing ......

Here's some of my practice welds trying to follow along Rocs welds..
Mine are the two on top & RocZuks is the one on the bottom.

Nice Cam. Last time I welded in my name on the welding table at South Gate High School's Machine Shop, my teacher made me grind the entire table smooth. Now that was a pain and I never did it again :roflsign:
Can't wait to see what you and Roc come up with. Are you guys going to be known as C&T Fabrications? :)

C&T dont sound bad...
We were considering B.A. Fabrication. ( Burbank Alley Fab's )
Yeah since we got it, I've probably spent about 1/2 total praticing because its @ his place......
But since I live in a APT it should be there at his place!
But I'm Hooked!
I LOVE WELDING!! :spaz_smilie:

I know what you mean. I spent 4 years welding at South Gate High. Mig and Tig. A couple of us in my class ended up fabbing and welding all of the front screens at South Gate High and most of the bathroom stalls. Sounds like it was a Kathy Lee Gifford type of program but we were all happy, getting A's and welding crap. :) I've thought about taking the Wizard Fab program, just not sure if I can get away for that long and it's not cheap. Good luck man.

Very cool Cam! C&T Fab sounds cool, do you guys have a tube bender? If not I found a set of plans online that lets you build one for less than $100 http://www.gottrikes.com/ but than dies will cost around $200.

Welding next to a can of paint remover, not a good idea. Just giving you sh*t Cam.

Last night while doing my 1st repair on the Sammy ( Spare tire holder cracked due to the weight of a full sized 31 inch tire )
& I noticed that all my practice, has used most of the gas we had.
I did'nt bother with a Pic. it was just a simple 2 inch bead connecting the two sides of the big crack. That I did the lazy way without even removing the spare tire..
Nothing too exciting
But its awsome having such a tool to finially be able to repair stuff like this.
Now I realize the factory spare tire holder wont work for a 33" tire.

put a vise grip on you art work and see if you can snap pieces off.. With that welder you kind of have to turn the heat up and weave the bead slowly.. contrary to popular belief you can lay down some strong welds with that if you take your time, prep the steel and get your pattern down...

Thanks for your input Raf.
I do realize there will be a few welds that dont hold & that will all be part of the learning proscess.
As strange as it may sound, I'm kinda looking forward to the learning curve! :7:

they dont look bad either for a just starting out. I remember my first welds they looks like a dog sh*t itself on a piece of metal. but welding flat and then doing like verticle ups/downs thoses are a PITA. and tube is hard also for beginners
