Ok back on TWW#1 we started talk about a MOJAVE trail run & many agreed that Oct. was the Ideal time of year for it...

So lets get this plan going as well....

Its an easy run from what I'm told .. Alot of history along the way from what I'm told ..
I'm also told its about a 3 day trail if your taking your time...

We'd Start in Mojave & finish some where near Laughlin if I understand correctly....

So please if anyone has any info on this trail please post it here!

We will go for sure!Weve researched it a bit in the past.I think it would be best to start at laughlin and end near barstow.Makes for a shorter drive home after a exhausting weekend in the dez!If you need more info look up www.DesertUSA.com.

Count me and the wife in for sure!

I did a little reasearch on it a while back and talked about going. Oct is one of the few months this year I am not at sea most of the month. I would like to go. There is a trail guide dedicated to the mojave trail. I will see if I can find it on line again.

Being the only one who has been on it, I would be happy to be trail leader too.

I have taken it as well but remember very few parts of it... that was about 20 years ago. Damm I'm old!

Hey, I got a book on SoCal trails and they've got it covered. My understanding is that most people take the trail from east to west.

I'd REALLY like to go, but I don't know if I'm still so so stock then if I can hang.

But I think I'll be lifted at least 2" with bigger tires by then...

From what I'm told its not Hardcore..
I've even been told that I could drag my trailer through so It cant be that harsh.....

It depends,Some parts are sandy and there is a stream crossing at one point.Another concern is Soda lake. The trail continues through but i think it would be best to end the trail at Baker before Soda as it is acidic and bad for our rides...Stock bronco II with some 30" or 31" ATs should be fine...

Bronkzilla
05-02-2006, 10:41 PM
Raf, you'll be able to keep up pretty well. There are only some small parts when you can get up to a good speed.

id have to drive the bronco all the way to the starting point and then drive the bronco all the way home.. either that or tow the bronco up, do the trail, then drive the bronco back to get the trailer.. both dont seem doable with the distance this trail covers.. id end up with slick tires by the end of the weekend..

Blanco

For the record .... I dont see taking my trailer but ..... I was tolf it would probably be ok..

Lifted trucks will have a problem going under the railroad tracks. My Bronco with 31s (they weren't bald at the time, Cam) barely cleared. There's a way around, we'll just have to find it.
The more the merrier.
I am sure if a vehicle is too tall to go under the tracks, it won't have any problems going over the tracks. Besides we will have Blanco's Zuk to pull us over and out of trouble like he did for Macho Nacho!:innocent:

I've been reading about this trail in this Guide to SoCal trails... and it sounds pretty bad ass. I really, really want to do this. I talked with a buddy and he said it's a two day trail... he's never been on it, but he said his uncle did it and camped. So is that what we'd be doing?

In any event, no matter how we do it, it sounds like a blast. By then I think most of my plans for the B2 will be realized.

Blanco
05-09-2006, 10:15 PM

This one does seem popular with most of you.

ThePOWERtoRULE

Call me committed!! But we CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT cross the 7th. Oct 7th is a no go for me. Anything else, with the advance and mechanical soundness, I'll be there.

And if the 2.9L takes a dump, I'll be looking for somebody to ride with.

Bronco IIs won't make it if it's wet.
:waiting: You'd be surprised what a BII can do..:m2c:
But being that I plan on sleeping in the back of Blanco With tail Gate open ......
Yeah Prefer it was dry...

But bring it on, I'm up for it either way!

ThePOWERtoRULE

Bronco IIs won't make it if it's wet.

My understanding is that if it's REALLY wet NOBODY makes it across Soda Lake... I'm told there's bypass roads that are LESS wet, but don't know.

Unfortunately I don't have a fullsize (I wish...) and the B2 is too small to sleep in the back of... so I'll be bringing a tent. Add that to the long list of things to buy.

Exactly, if it's raining. Oh and don't bring any Dodges. Dodges have problems and I don't want to have to tow anyone back. Last time we went the Dodge I went with had to be towed back from Afton Canyon.

No, it's not in Nevada too long. The only bars will be in Needles or on the indian reservation in the beginning.
Good way to start!! :pianodance:

So let me guess there are no bathrooms along the way Huh? :(

So is it dig a Hole & Crap in it? type of trip??

So is that the Plan then ????? I need agreement from all on all then planing ...
Are we gonna start on the far side towards home? Works for me.....

05-10-2006, 12:46 AM
Oh and just a note for fullzise guys, don't bring anything with shiney dark paint. You'll get some desert pinstriping. BII guys will be fine.

We'll be meeting at 7am at the Denny's in Needles for breakfast. Bring stuff (sandwich materials, chips, etc.) to make for lunch Saturday and Sunday. We'll barbecue and stovetop cook for dinner on Saturday. Bring stuff to make for breakfast Sunday, too.

I apprciate you trying to take over
To get us rolling but lets wait & see when most of us will be available for this trip...:buttslap:

Blanco
05-10-2006, 01:25 AM
The only way we'll get it done is if we leave early from Needles.
Needles Is on the closer side, NO???
We need to have everyone agree are we gonna start on the far side towards home?
Or from the home side towards the longer drive home...

Blanco

Definately going east to west. I can invest probably 4 days, before or after the 7th. Days during the week would be easier to get off, but I'll make it happen either way.

I would be inclined to drive back home to Riverside at the end of the last day, I would probably spend the night in Needles and get an early start. If you guys plan more days, I can cut back up to the 15 for when I need to leave and at least start the trip with you guys.

Actually I would suggest staying at the Avi Hotel & Casino (http://home.avicasino.com/) if you plan on spending the night before the trip. The trail starts literally next to one of the access roads leaving in and out of there, they have places to eat in the A.M,a gas station/convenience store in the parking lot and you can have all the fun you want the night before.

Needles is further away.....and ....well....kind of a dump.

Anyways, My pops and I took this trail for the first time in November.(our second atempt, long story) It's a fun time. We plan on making it a yearly or twice a year trip.

It took us a day,Starting at around 9 or 10 a.m at the trail entrance all the way to the fenced off end in the Mojave river, it was about 5 or 6 p.m.

I think moving the SLOWEST possible and taking your time to check everything out it should take no more than two days.....

Oh and I have a few pics if I can figure out how to post them.....

Sounds good to me. I'll be down for the night in the casino with you guys, hanging out a couple of drinks (soda, beer, whatever you like). :pianodance:

Avi is cool but its more expensive than Needles. Avi will be around $75 for a night and Motel 6 was like $40.
& fuel will $5.000 for the weekend..:bangdesk:

I'm more for the Avi Or laughlin & maybe just hook up with you guys in the morning..
Luaghlin in only like 15 to 20 minutes from there...

A word of warning if we go to the Avi.
It is very expensive buy everything before you get there.
Fuel & beer etc. is very expensive..

I've stayed there before for a weekend of Sea doo & boating fun.
