who can tell anything about these diesel drivetrains?

I've been thinking if I do end up racing Blanco, how cool would it be to have a macthing tow rig? :humm_smilie:

I'd prefer an extracab though.

Where the diesels in these rigs worth a darn?

I'm assuming the answer is no.
power up-grades are probably nothing like modern diesels? :shrugs:

I just figured some of you might know? :16:

7.3L NA, C6 tranny or Manual? Dana 70? rear end and probably a 4.10 -4.56 rearend. I have seen 5.13's 12mpg at best.

Needs a turbo and overdrive.

So when did they start putting the E4OD behind the diesels?

1989 Ford 350 460 E4OD
We got a call from the dealer as the option for the E4OD just became avail...Our order was placed in 3-89 and was not an option yet...just a few hundred $$$$$$$$$ more to add to the truck before it when into the production line.

That truck in the pic it an early Super Duty. 10 lug! Dana 80 w/disk. Front is a solid axle like the old trucks had. It would have most likely had the IDI 7.3 nonturbo w/ ZF 5 speed. I personally like the 460/5 spd better. Cheaper by far and easier to make more power! Although, I have several friends that have put on the Banks systems on those old diesels and loved them. If you plan to go into high elevation you’ll hate the diesel!
Some of those trucks even had the 351w in them.

Cam, 94.5-up 7.3 PSD with an E4OD.
Has a lot more power than an IDI.

Yeah But thought it would be cool if the tow rig matched the towed rig. :)
