So i guess it's time to start looking for a replacement E4OD.

Do y'all know any companies off the top of your head that assemble/sell a heavy duty transmission? Even tho i've got the "updated" unit, i want something even stronger. I guess what i'd really like to have is a trans made to withstand a modified PSD, but with a small block bellhousing.

And if it matters, i'd rather just swap the trans out, instead of rebuilding and upgrading my existing one. Just to keep the down time minimal...

Or would it be a better idea to swap in a 4R100? That'd mean a new CPU, right? How about wiring harnesses?

I spent some time looking into this & besides a Diesel Trans there really aint nothing offered out there that would be super Heavy duty.

The E-4OD in itself is a strong Trans..

Just do the up-grades & get a cooler & good pan etc....

I know where theres a FORD factory built E-4OD for a race Bronco ( this was back when FORD sponsored some race teams in Desert Racing.)
Its new in the crate, but its about 12 years old & according to the Tranny shop that has it.

( They Specialize in off road race stuff. ) they said its nothing all that trick & that he could rebuild mine just as strong if not stronger.

Call John ( I think thats his Name? :6: ) He's a cool guy & dont mind letting you pick his brain some.

I've learned alot about E-4OD's via phone calls to him. :)

Hmm... that's some good info. Thanks! :7:

I'm really just looking right now so I know about how much to budget for a new trans. Probably in a year or so.

I guess i could always get a quality (Motorcraft?) reman unit and go ahead and install a shift kit and HD valve body before instillation in the vehicle. Along with a larger cooler and external fluid filter... That'd probably come out cheaper...

JET performance, a little pricey but I have heard good things about them.

Froggman is right on with jet performance. If you don't want that route call Ats and tell them you need a trans built like the psd trans but in a small block casing. I'm sure they will be willing to help or point you in the right direction.:16:

I'll check out JET. Thanks!

I didn't even think about ATS. Hmm...

I got this one off of google. Sounds HD, but doesn't exactly say what's better about it. http://high-impact.net/transmission_and_gear/badboye4od.htm

As far as i know jeff not a whole lot. I know they use the 460 bell housing pattern. I'll check up though, and see what else i find.
