I know it's an off season project but inorder to clean up the yard I needed to get something done with these 2 snowmobiles. Instead of having a billion parts layin around I'd just do the project and get it done out of the way.

I picked up these two Jag's (1979 & 1980) last fall and they sat burried in the snow all winter. I was told they hadn't been run in 5 years. It sucked not having a running sled this past winter, and knowing I have/had 3 sitting on the yard.

Pulled the two Jags into the garage and got them both running with a fat oil/fuel mix.

The only peeve I have with the older machines is the ski stance is too narrow with them under the belly pan. So why not make it wider? OK.

Pulled the one I wnted to keep apart. and preped for modifications. I then pulled the second one apart for parts to go on the good one and some spare parts. Engine from the second sled will get trans planted in the 3rd unseen green machine.

From the parts sled and another stripped parts sled I had also gotten with these 2. I cut out the front tubes that the skis mount to. I then cut the ends off then just shortened the tubes so that I could make 1 that was wider.

It was too much work to cut the old tube out so it stayed there and I piggy backed the new tube infront of the old one.

Raised the handle bars to give a better feel. I just cut the tube long on the bar side and with a spare steering shaft I cit the tube long. Internal sleeved it.

I've got a few more things do do then it'll be ready for the winter.

Yes it runs.

I just drove it out of the shop onto the yard. Snapped a few pics then drove it to it's new parking spot till the snow flies.
