Help I'm new to this form and I'm hoping that someone out there can help me.
I have an '86 Bronco II with about 235K on it. I'm putting a new rebuilt motor in it and I'm having a problem. I had to heat the old blancer up to get it off the crank and now I'm having a problem locating a replacement. On line sources showed that it was available until I tried to order one. Now all that I can find is that it is no longer available. :verymad: One source out of Texas seemed to have on; but when it showed up, it was wrong. It seems that in '89 Ford switched to the surpatine belt system. The balancer I got is for the later 2,9. It seems that my two choices are to try and find a used balancer or switch the system over to the surpatine belt system. So my questions are
1.)Anyone know of where to get a new/old stock balancer?
2.)Can the newer serpatine belt system be fitted to the older 2.9L engine?
3.)If so is it worth while to do this?
Please note that I am not trying to solisit (sp?) a buisness, just trying to get pointed in a good direction. So far the internet hasn't been much help.
Thank You for any help anyone can get me.

yep... as it is harder to get for the 2.9L as i dont think ford is putting this 2.9L in cars anymore .... ?

the 4.0L was designed to take the place of the 2.9L

I found a place to get it rebuilt. They clean and replace the rubber part and repaint it. I'm going to not have them repaint it. This way I can have the stub part that the seal rides on hard chromed. I can also have it powder coated. This will give me a better than factory part at about them same price as a replacement.:cooool:

the 4.0L was designed to take the place of the 2.9LThe 2.9 hasn't been around for a very long time. The pushrod 4.0 was in the same engine family.
