Ok, I get home yesterday, look out the back door at the bronco and noticed something on the spare tire. I thought maybe one of the kids had put something on it. So I went to check it out. And this is what I saw.

So what the heck caused this? The tire is a used one and was just recently put on the bronco like a week or two ago. I'm glad it didn't blow out my back window!

 WTF!!
Are you telling us it blew apart while mounted on the spare Rack?
Are you sure nobody barrowed your Bronco & had the blow out & replaced without saying anything?
Or did it have about 50,000 psi maybe? & the sun beating on it was just to much? http://bestsmileys.com/lol/5.gif

Yes, it blew apart on the spare rack,
No, no one drove the bronco, it's been parked for the past 3 days.
And the air pressure was where it is supposed to be. We did had a few super hot days this last week.
The tire was FREE, so I'm not realy worried about it. :D

yah .. intense heat can cause tire seperation ... but ive never seen something like that happen unless it was a complete and total blow out.....
*i think theres more to it then just heat seperation...

I'm not really sure myself. John says he hasn't seen anything like that before either when he saw it. My best guess is that there might have been some dry rot, and with the near 100* temps the other day, than a cool spell right after, it just blew. :humm_smilie:
