What happened to you guys at the 500?

well, what happend to us in the baja 500,,.. we were not able to test well our race car, just by telling you that we finish our car the same day after the contingency, and, we start the race just like that, everything seems ok, the enginge, front suspensions was excelent (king dual rate coil overs, awsome), the rear not so good, and i think that was one of the reason why the transmission broke, we lost the second gear by mile 45 to 50, why i blame the rear suspension, well, we end up racing with just 9 inches of total travel on the rear, at the last moment we change the leaf springs, and it end up to be to soft, so the rear suspension kept bouncing on the bump stops the hole time.. jeje, it was hard to kept the tires stick to the road, so on a small jump we land it on high revs and thats when the second gear broke, we race with manual transmission, and also, the worst part was, that the transmission had more than 2000 off road miles on it, it was the same since we start racing with this ford explorer, that was at the 2003 san felipe 250, so, i don't know how we could belive that the trany will hold for onother 500 miles, god, .. for the next race we are gonna have a new, but new transmission, and long travel deavers leaf springs on the rear.

you can read here part of our history. http://thewebwheeler.com/forums/showthread.php?t=592
and that's how the story goes...

pd, thks for the help with the leaf springs, i will call him a.s.a.p.

thks a lot for your help, now my brother tells me that we may change our rear differntial to a ford 9, so, we haven't decide the location of the leaf springs, the outside or bottom of the chasis, with ford 9, we can have the same setup as the ford ranger, and with that, more wheeltravel, right, so, anyway, i will call rod first, orw its near, been there.
