DIRCKS AND PORTER JOIN THE CORR SERIES IN A BIG WAY
Newport Beach (August 25, 2006)—Pro Lite drivers can plan on seeing another truck amongst them at the World Championship Off-Road Races in Crandon, WI on September 2nd and 3rd. Dircks and Porter Racing is getting into the action at full speed. The company that already sponsors Pro Lite driver Robert Naughton will add another Pro Lite truck to the mix, followed by two Pro 2 trucks.
After selling their trophy truck, desert racers, Gary Dircks and M ark Porter are anxious to join Championship Off Road Racing. The pair is now building two Pro 2 trucks, but they couldn’t wait to hit the track, so they bought M ike Voyles ’ Pro Lite truck and registered for Crandon. “We ordered two trucks and then we got a little impatient, and just decided we wanted to go buy another truck just to get some seat time,” said M ark Porter. “We’re both nuts we don’t want to wait.” Dircks and Porter plan on finishing their Pro 2 trucks in time to race at Chula Vista on October 21st and 22nd.
Both Dircks and Porter live in Phoenix , AZ with their families. Mark Porter started his career as a drag racer, but got involved in desert racing when he met Gary Dircks a long time friend. Among many other accomplishments Dircks and Porter were the 2004 Trick Truck Series Champions.
The choice to make the switch to the CORR series comes from their love of spectator sports, and the high level competition CORR has to offer. “The fact that it is such close racing between vehicles, and the contact part of it makes it just really great,” said Mark Porter.
Dircks and Porter will co-drive the Pro Lite truck #2 that was built by Johnny Greeves. Their Pro 2 trucks will be #2 and #4. “We look forward to having a great time. It is a hobby, but the fact is we want to go out and run against the best guys in the world and be competitive.”
