Utah again...

taking a small trip and visiting Utah for a couple days.

Already shopped the wrecking yard and got some cool stuff. going back tomorrow for a ZF5 for the f150. going to be a cool upgrade. Just need to locate a shifter for it.
might look at a property or two also...never know what might pop up for sale.

Nice what part of Utah?
Its beautiful there!
Hows the weather & you looking at lots or homes?
I took a 3 hours lot tours in the deep desert of Tucson today.
Probably 20-30 lots from 1 & 1/2 size lots to 80 acres.

Utah County. Santaquin to Lehi and all east of Utah Lake. Looking at areas to narrow the search toward.
Yeah it is beautiful here.

I've loved Utah since around 5th grade.

picked up some new items too. More will happen in the appropriate threads upon my return. Got delayed a day due to road closure...and will wait out the black ice first thing in the AM. Want to make it home in one piece ya kno? Superduty has around 197000 miles now....and likely just shy of 198500 when I get back.
No photos I can upload until I get back either.

Ice...black or white/clear is scary. down right spooky when hauling a trailer, downhill, in a curve. I did get some pucker moments when the trailer was in a sway condition on packed snow/ice the other morning. I should have been in 4WD, but I wasn't. Motorhome driver probably should have been using more caution and going slower....but wasn't. I stayed on road and remained calm despite a faulty trailer brake controller not allowing a "squeeze a handful of anchor" braking. Yes, I now have a replacement controller to install. still sort of amazing how 500 yards of bad road can dominate the memory of 400 miles of days driving.
overall....it was an adventure. From the above exercise in regaining lane control to the unplanned lower radiator hose failure that lead to a water pump replacement in a WallyWorld parking lot. Could have been worse really. I now have a great sleeping bag rated for 10* that I picked up for a great price to make my overnight in the truck more pleasant. Parts stores were in reasonable walking distance. I survived 3 two mile round trips that night walking to get parts or tools. I had a well stocked store for everything else including supper, and breakfast and restroom open 24 hours.
But I made it home safe. and that's all that mattered to me.

Wow!

Glad there was no damage beyond the hose.

Bought a 91 F250 parts truck and a car trailer...might get to post photos yet tonight.
I bought the truck for the transmission...a ZF5 that will mate to the 4.9L in my F150. Plus the truck has new 265/75R16s that my SuperDuty will be needing very soon. I gave the topper that the truck had to my dad for his SuperDuty since it was for that model anyway. Will be able to part out the rest of the truck and make my $$ back on what I spent even giving some steal of a deals on prices.

Also did some property scouting. I've loved UT for many years....figured it was time to start looking to see where I'd like to settle at someday.

Utah is a beautiful state.

I need a '98 Cab to swap out the one on the Yeti
I'd love to swap to the Cab that has a suicide door for the Cabs back seat.
My '97 never came with that.

Oh yeah. Replaced that with a Harbor Freight mechanics set. Not as pleasant as my Craftsman set (but since that set wasn't with me)....I'd say it worked great.

ah yes, I was there once in the Bronco. Came in from the Million Dollar Highway Via Montrose, CO to Durango, CO and then to the 4 Corners and ending at Havabrew...I mean Havasu, AZ.

Going to do some National Park stops in UT? Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands, Arches, ???
Trailering it I would presume??

OH YEAH.....I'm Jealous. Still snowing here in ND. Might have stopped but more on the way.

Well the plan was Bryce , Zion & finally on the way home maybe Vegas.
But we left really early from Moab due to winds starting & wanted to see how far we could get?

We made it as far as Green River, nice little town.

Iíll start a tread about later.
Itís only a mile out side of Moab on the 70.

Been here two days.

Weíve been camping on the northern Colorado rivers edge in Green River Stste Park.

Hereís a picture of why Iíve stayed here till our start home.

Due to these 2 days down, we donít plan to see the sights rather just take the LONG drive back to LA.
I would stayed a few extra days, but the winds are suppose to start back up Sunday & Monday.

So to not get stuck again. We most likely will just boogie on down the road.

just a slight breeze.

in a car.

Ive done some strong gusts in that medium duty and in a class A motorhome. Neither was anywhere close to fun...but the Medium duty felt safer due to the weight alone. Good call with the lightweight sail in tow.

My wife knows better than I do, when to stop.
I will win big & then lose it.

But safely home now.
