Loco about trailers....

My public link to my trailer photo album
feel free to look and ask any questions.

To keep Tristans zuki thread clutter free of my junk projects....
here's what my car trailer looks like on the underside as far as support goes..
originally a travel trailer then I modified it and hauled a 3500#Toyota 4x4 with about 1200#s of other junk to ND on it...still as straight as the day I built it.

this was a 2x4x.25 channel that I made larger by adding a 2x3x.1875 angle and a 3x.1875 plate effectively making a 2x6 tube. The top edge of the angle sits 2" above the original channel allowing me to notch the lower corners of my new 2x3x.120? cross tubes. This makes the top of the angle unable to bend and makes a very sturdy frame.

obligitory TWW sticker shot...with the benefit of showing my rear rail for strength.

This trailer has DUAL spares mounted below deck in the rear.
also has recessed tail lights to keep me as wide as possible without sacraficing deck space and leaving them exposed to damage.

Front tool box for jack and lug wrench, tiedowns...junk.
D-rings bolt directly to the main frame, and I put 6 on it.
unladen weight of this is 2050#s (this does include the chain binders and 2 16'x3/8" chains.)

That covers all 6 for now. The red one behind the small utility was sold shortly after its purchase. It made its 2 trips to ND and back to CA.

Still need??? an RV camper trailer.... gotta love the fact that Trailer registration is due every Jan 1...small ones are $10/year--(unless they dont leave the state --$0) titled are approx $50enclosed, $25 Car hauler, $60 dumper

Edit...dont really need the RV trailer...have a pick up camper.

this is the inside of the 24'er. fully insulated walls and roof. its now fully walled luann plywood.

this is the inside of what was my camper trailer...and what it now my car hauler...

sold stuff off of it as I pulled it apart to help cover the price of steel to build and strengthen the hauler.

this was the outside look of the camper out at calico.

used a new roof tar-like coating to protect the wood deck from this winters snow...(april was a hard month on my trailer-saw alot of snow sit on it)
in a couple days when it fully cures...I'll put a lighter color coating on top as per instructions.

Also taking the time to remove frame rust and priming and painting all bare metal. repainting the white sides and tool box.
D-rings will get another color just for the heck of it.
tried to buy some bearing buddies, but had no luck at the usual places. Monday I will try a trailer place....and stop in at TrucParCo (Branch in Anaheim, CA)for some rear axle hub covers...More bling.

would you believe one of my dual hanging spares is flat. I didnt even use it yet...been hanging there since the day I installed it when trailer was built. suppose I better fix that too.

Oh yeah...I almost forgot.

When I get home (ND) I will be picking up a trailer that my dad built back in 73/74. based on a Model A pickup box. Its been stored at my moms uncles place and assumed scraped many years ago. NOT SO! its in the same place we left it. I saw it back in 89, but had nowhere to bring it home to CA...so it sat.
One comment and phone call later...and I got another trailer...

I see this one as a project to build/fix and sell off when done. no photos of it yet...but I'll update it in this thread when I get it home.

really foggy like today so took alot of time to dry off enough to get at painting.

coating is drying well. in another day or so I can paint the deck and reinstall the d-rings.

decided to repair the hastily stretched fenders. first go-round was a real time crunch...stretched and installed hours before leaving.

From what I understand ND = Sand SD = Salt so that should be decent.

Hey Tom so what is the trailer to vehicle ratio now?

I think every vehicle has a trailer to tow without sharing. I think that = a 1:1

Having issue finding the correct size bearing buddies for this trailer. HADCO is in Corona I suppose (internet search say that anyway)...got to call to see if they carry them.

Still not finished with the bronco hauler yet. have the last coat of protectant to paint on if it doesn't rain this weekend. then bolt all the fresh painted parts back on....

Wow, you sure are proud of that word "BIG" lately. Did you call and order those pills that BOB keeps advertising? If so, I don't need those pics, thanks though.

No-
BOB has nothing to do with BIG...BOB= making something shorter doesn't it?

anyway...I've been preoccupied lately with other items that mostly were taken care of yesterday and today.

I'll be posting in the 'for sale' section before too long.
