That cage looks great...Why wont your folding windsheild work with it?Can you modify the cage or the folding windshield to make it work together?
I understand you love your F/W,but to sacrifice a nice cage seems like a waste.Priorities...

Ok so today I did a few other things..
Lets start with my Trunk...
I wondered if it would be too Small & now $30.00 later I realize it is, we'll when stuffing it with a tent & air matress & tools ..

So I went for the Lowes Box that is about Half the size I wanted But what the heck @ least I have one ....

I used the existing threaded holes that were already there for holding in the back seat.
to secure it down into the Bed.

I applyed Vaseline to the head ( Sig Line in the making ) of my Bolts after some trial fitting of the trunk to how I wanted it...
& placed the trunk down into the predetermined placement & gently removed the truck so I could drill in the grease marks.

Then I simply bolted in down into place.

I double Washered it in attemp to gain the widest foot print on its holding points.

Its slight ly off by a 1/2 inch because I like my Drivers seat slightly back & wanted to mount it where the top might stay open on its own with out having to hold it.

so both seat where positioned before any drilling started..
I stll have room to recline pretty nicely if I wanna nap or something..
Yes as I get older Comfort is always on my mind!

Sorry for the Blurry Pic but I wanted to allow myself enuff space to Mount a 40" High lift here after placeing the trunk all the way to the Pass side. & it should Just fit!

I also have enuff room for somewhat hiddin goodies here.

Like I said before with Camping supplies I run out of trunk space Very quickly!!

OK I also Modified my old top into a Safari top...
I figure when winter returns I'll buy a new top.

OK so I was'nt sure what to do here I spent the last couple days looking for Footman loops or something similar to rig up something but as I started the Project I started thinking....

I installed the Top & Grabed a pair of Sissors!

When I started cutting I started getting nervous?

So I cut a little at a time hoping to keep cutting to what I want instead of cutting too far right away.

& as I was Cutting I decided to try something I've not heard of others doing.
(Maybe I'll learn why others dont do this. )

I just cut it along attempting to use all of the original top with out adding anything...

I was a little concerned with cutting the back too close & having it flop over the rear support bar, So I decided to go like this for now & see how it goes..

I could always cut more later..

I hope that one factory button holds?

I figure with the summer sun beating down on a long trail like tomorrow on the Miller Jeep Trail I'd want this top on...

Should be interesting to see how it flaps around in the wind on a 45 minute FWY drive?
I already noticed that at street speeds the center sorta flaps around...

OK after my slight body Damage last weekend ...
I've been kicking my self for not getting these, that I've been saying I'll get..

But then I started thinking about what would be even better & now I'm thinking about getting some aluminum Diamond plate & doing something along the lines of this Crude Photoshop..

Flares are easily replaced ...
But I'm thinking about saving the Sammys Sheet Metal...

The Rockers will not be Diamond plate!
Those will be 1/4 steal plates ( Not Diamond plate ) With a tube sticking out to keep me away from the rocks..

I also am not a Fan of lots of Diamond plate.....
But I'm thinking some aluminum diamond plates at that shape might be with in reason price wise....
& Of course I would bead blast it & paint it hammerite black. ( Seems to be my calling card these days , So people tell me. )

So only my 4 Fenders would be Diamond plated..

Its just that I have a bad habit of taking trails that are Way too small for what I'm driving..

So If I plated the Body I could just push through without fear of much body damage..

If your going to diamond plate it, it needs to be the same width all the way down the side. Seems like the rear guestimation is wider then the front. I like the way the rear fender looks. Carry that width all the way to the front.

Ok I keep telling myself That Sammy sits kinda low...

Yes it does have clearence but its just waiting to have a rock panel all smashed, Kinda like this one.

So I stopped putting it off anymore & order these today.

Made by Shrockworks

They're the best looking ones I've seen....
They will protect the rockers & help keep the rocks further out with the tubing!

Theres other ones out there that are just metal plate that wraps without the tubing, But I dont like those..

& there are also other ones that connect to the frame like Blancos do & ride under the rocker but that robs me of Ground clearence..

I should have them with in a couple of weeks ...
they dont keep them on the self, they make them per order..
