Got both pumps istalled now.

Just gotta wire it up & in a few days should be ready to hit the water.

I'll still be without a Fish Finder or trolling motor though...

trolling motor... 6 y.o. with a paddle...

Fish finder, same as ^, or a midget, or a wife, depending on your marriage.. with live bait around there neck, tied to the side of the boat with bait around the neck... flotation device not necessarily required.

Wired up both Pumps today & poured the fuel that was in tank into my Bronco.
Don't trust what condition its in..
& figure if the Bronco starts to run funny I'll know what it is.
But for my maiden voyage in this boat I want fresh premium fuel in it so if its running funny, I know its not the fuel.

If the weather will cooperate, I should be in the water within a few days..

Hit the water for the 1st time with my new boat today.

Met up with a friend BonsaiBob at Castiac today to have him show me the ropes being I know nothing about boats..

Bob showed me all the steps to get the boat safely from the trailer onto the water by yourself.

It was really great to have Bob with me on my very 1st boat trip being I learned lots of little thing I would of never thought of, like about how to use the trim for different speeds etc etc..

The outboard ran good while it was running hard across the lake. ( I figured it would of had more power than it did. But what do I know about boats..? )
Has some issues with running very slow about 5 mph & would stall & then not wanna restart right away.
So I decided to take it back to the shop that just rebuilt my carbs to have them look at it again.

Turns out I was only running on two of the 3 cyclinders!
So I left it at the shop & gonna have them install a fuel/water separator filter kit while its there.

I was very happy to see after getting the boat back on the trailer & pulling the plug, that I had not a single drop come out.

Thanks again to Bob for showing up for a few hours to help out a newbie boater that he didn't really know very well even.

Went fishing with my friend Justin yesterday & caught a few fish.

Anyways it was a good day until the end.
While pulling the boat out of the water, I forgot to lift the out board up out of the dangers of the concrete ramp.

Well, I took off the prop off today.

No signs of excessive wear..

There's a very slight hint of some sort of lube on it someone put on at one time.

The little round part was just sitting there under the nut that holds it all together.
But, in these pics you can see the the both brass parts are threaded & they are a perfect fit.

Seems they should of been screwed together as I took the stuff apart?
Then again with all the spinning down there could it ever stay together?

Got my Trolling Motor today!

Its a Terrova 55lbs thrust motor with a 48" shaft & the optional universal sonar 2, that will work with the fish finder I plan to buy as well as many other fish finders.
So instead of just one transducer in the water looking for fish, I'll have two.

Assuming its not raining tomorrow I'll start swapping it out with the old one..

Looks like I'm gonna put off mounting the Trolling motor for a few more days until I get the new quick release bracket I ordered.
It will allow me to remove the trolling motor & let me take it home to put in the garage wheres its safe from growing legs & walking away during the night.

Started working on the boat again today.

But nothing's ever easy for me..
Anyways I started working on mounting my new Minn-Kota Terrova trolling motor today.

I figured easy enough, just remove the old bracket & mount the new stuff.
( yeah right. )
well 1st I thought I could simply unscrew the old screws & replace with the new.
Then I saw the screws just kept turning..
Ok, I thought. I need to grab the back side of them to allow them to back out from the spinning nut.

This panel had to come out 1st.

After getting it out of the way.

Then I realized that there's a lip on the bottom side that was completely in my way.
I thought I could grab the nut & simply unscrew, But NOOOOOOOOO

I ended up having to drill the darn things out!
Bummer was that some of the screws were not that tight & would spin with the drill bit.

Then I also had to break out the hack saw.

& finally got the old mount removed.

Then cleaned it all up.

The rust on these things make me guess its all original from 1992.

I'm realizing the aluminum protector plate will either have to go, or have to have alot of grinding done to allow the TM to hang over the edge as it needs.

Tomorrow I will measure it all out for the new holes I'll need to drill & mount it all up & then I'll be mounting the on board battery charger.& etc etc..
I promise to post pictures along the way with all I do & what I found needed to make it happen.

Cam- cant you shim the black mounting plate up to be flush with the bow point protector deal? I imagine you could locate yourself a piece of Aluminum that same thickness rather easy....

How do you like your new money pit? worth all you are putting into it??

OK, well...... here's what I did today...

I removed the Bumper & found this under it.

& That's not gonna do.
& Then I started mocking up where the TM should sit.

& So I saw no choice at this point but to start with mods, If I wanted to use this TM.

& then it was one problem after a another.

I had to start grinding the aluminum ( after cutting it already ) to let things clear.

Then the plate started getting hung up on other things like the aluminum trim along the carpet.

& at this point I was getting frustrated wit this job & decided to just start grinding the adapter, being it seemed much faster then some of the other options.

Then after bolting down the Bow plate I realized that the plate is crushing the carpet & giving me another issue to deal with.
The TM plate now don't match up with the compressed carpet plate.

At this point I'm wondering what to do?
Do I loosen up the bow plate & shim it with some washers to raise it up? to make up for the carpet squish.

I'm not sure what I wanna do now.
Maybe I should cut out the carpet? around the bow plate?
But I worry that the TM plate will sit too low.
So the washers seem like a better idea.

Mean while I took some mock up pics to see how it will look.

Unfortunately even though I was careful to keep the TM all tucked in within the boats lines during the pre-measuring, after all was said & done, my measurements seem to of moved on me.

So tomorrow I'll go back to tinker on it for a bit mounting the foot pedal & go pick up my new TM Battery & mount the on board charger.

& Then maybe on Tuesday I'll have my new prop mounted & be ready to hit the water by Wednesday.

I know little about boats....just the basics (not supposed to allow water into the hull, supposed to stay on the trailer until you get it into the lake, B.reak O.ut A.nother T.housand).
Its about a 4.5 hr trip to look at it. Really should sell something first.

Now---whats the status of yours?
